There has been so much hoopla lately over the iPad recently; however, I’m just not ready for one just yet. I really love my net book and cannot see the benefit in getting an iPad. My net book is such a great tool I had to share this with my readers who may be thinking of purchasing a trendy iPad. Think about it and do the research, you may be better off with a good net book.
If you think I dislike Apple products or am conspiring to get Apple Corp., you’re wrong, my iTouch and myself are inseparable, it is a great gadget and I have over 600 songs on it which I play constantly. I have wireless connectivity also, but that is no big deal to me. I don’t consider my iTouch much of a business tool, I consider it entertainment but that is another story.
In 2008, I decided to invest in a net book. I already had a nice desktop pc at home and needed to retire my old Toshiba laptop. I reviewed a lot of user feedback research on Amazon.com and had choices between the Dell and HP and ASUS net book lines.
In my research, I found that many of the net book reviewers really had great things to say about the ASUS Eee pc. and its robust functionality. As I studied the reviews, I became hooked into buying one and am so glad that I got an Asus net book.
I decided to purchase my netbook for about $350 on Amazon. I ordered it with Windows XP and an extra 2 Gig RAM chip for faster processing which was I was able install very easily so the total with the extra RAM the book was about $400.
I must tell you that I have not for one minute regretted my choice to purchase this technological marvel. The PC set up very easily with my wireless network and the extra RAM allows it to surf the web extremely fast. The screen has vivid eye popping resolution and color. I keep my net book desktop uncluttered as I use this gadget primarily for web surfing. Batteries last for about ten hours and it has usb ports!
I find my netbook particularly convenient and delightful when I want to multitask (watch tv and surf the web at the same time). I like all forms of social media and I find that accessing these sites from anywhere around the house is pure delight. I also really like not having to tote around a heavy bulky laptop, even around the house. And for travel, this little gadget is so easy and light to carry around and configure the Wi-Fi at hotels and local coffee shops.
So today I am writing this blog entry on my Asus net book, sitting on a comfortable chair on my back patio by the pool in beautiful 75 degree weather as hummingbirds buzz around my head. I just read portions of the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, The Washington Post, The Huffington Post online, Twitter, Linked in and Facebook. There is plenty of great free reading online. Next, I’ll go on to my daily ritual, checking out the stock market on Yahoo Finance, and all of my stock portfolios and investments online.
To all of you who are waiting in line for iPads, I say, do yourself a favor and check out a net book, there is plenty of pleasure to be had with one of these wonderful gadgets and they are a bit cheaper than the iPad. If you want to go mobile with a net book, you can still do so… around the house or at your nearest Wi-Fi hotspot. All I ask is that you consider an alternative to iPad.
Ok, at some point in the future, if I need to download books to read on the beach with the iPad (after AT&T’s connectivity improves), I may do that. However, for today, call me old fashioned because I am quite satisfied with my awesome little net book.
